The Austin "Vanden Plas Princess"

A wee bit of history for those who are interested :)

In 1947 Sir Herbert Austin purchased Vanden Plas in order to build a new luxury car, the Princess Saloon.

The very first two Princesses went to Princess Elizabeth I (now the Queen) in 1952.  And because she liked them so much, she purchased another two.

In 1954 the Limousine version was created and labelled the Vanden Plas Princess.  The Limousine was bigger, longer and wider allowing for additional fold-out rear seats to accommodate 7 passengers.

The Princess Limousine is indeed a collector's dream.  Only 1,100 were ever built, each one taking 4 months to hand-build by a small team dedicated to that one car.

The shape of the Princess was so popular it remained the same for 20 years.

These elegant luxury cars were formally used by royal families throughout Europe.
